Freedom Beyond: Looking Ahead for 12 Angels Publishing

For those of us in the United States, the Fourth of July is a time to celebrate independence. We gather with family and friends, watch fireworks light up the sky, and reflect on the liberties that shape our lives.

As a fantasy writer, though, I’ve found myself thinking about freedom in a different way. Not as something confined by geography or history. But as something that transcends borders.

It seems that lately, every story I write begins with a choice.

A warrior deciding whether to honor an oath.

A fallen angel questioning the very system she was created to serve.

A scholar discovering that the truth he has devoted his life to may not be the truth at all.

Different worlds. Different characters. Different myths. Yet they’re all searching for the same thing.

The freedom to choose who they become.

When I look at the stories I’ve published so far, I realize they’re connected by more than being part of The Forsworn Chronicles.

Oathbreaker is about the freedom to choose compassion over blind duty.

The Final Concord asks what happens when we find the courage to question what we’ve always believed.

The Last Flame explores the freedom that comes from embracing truth, even when that truth changes everything.

None of these stories were written to provide easy answers. They were written to ask meaningful questions. That’s the kind of fantasy I love reading. And it’s the kind of fantasy I hope to keep writing.

Looking ahead, I see many more doors waiting to be opened. More myths to explore. More legends to reimagine. More worlds where courage, hope, sacrifice, and redemption take center stage.

And beyond The Forsworn Chronicles, the world of The Order of the Anakim will be getting an update starting with Prelude to a Storm–with a larger adventure waiting to be told.

In many ways, 12 Angels Publishing is still just beginning.

Every new story is another doorway. And another opportunity to explore what it means to be human through worlds that could never exist—and yet somehow feel familiar.

That’s the kind of freedom I hope stories can offer. The freedom to imagine. The freedom to question. The freedom to hope.

So as we celebrated this Fourth of July, I’m grateful—not only for the freedoms we enjoy in our own lives, but for the freedom to create, to dream, and to share these stories with readers around the world.

Thank you for being part of this journey. There are many more worlds waiting beyond the next door. And I can’t wait to explore them together.

Happy Independence Day.

May your weekend be filled with family, laughter, good books, and the freedom to dream a little bigger.

I’d love to hear from you:

If you could step into any fantasy world for one day, where would you go?
