As you have probably noticed, I have not been posting much. But that doesn’t mean I’ve been completely inactive. Nope, not at all. In fact, I would say I have been very productive. I have probably read more in the last two years, than I have in a long time.

According to my Kindle reading insights, I am actually above my reading goal for this year. Woohoo! I consider that an accomplishment. We have to celebrate these achievements as small as they may seem to some. Isn’t that what life is about? A series of small achievements or failures. Either way, a life well lived… especially when one has been in the company of great books.

So here goes.

In the last couple of years, I have discovered authors (new to me) who I have completely fallen in love with. I love the stories they tell. The characters they’ve crafted and the addiction they’ve stoked to read more of their books.

You can probably guess by looking at my Goodreads widget, but here is my official list. Let’s just say, these are the reigning queens of Urban Fantasy reads in my world.

But of course, I cannot forget my perennial favorites. These authors are near and dear to my heart and light my imagination on fire when I read their books.

And then there are the blockbuster authors who require no introduction whatsoever.

  • JK Rowling
  • Neil Gaiman

If you love a funny, witty, heroine, make sure to check out KF Breene’s Demon Days series. I think the series has like 11 books and you will love every single one. I know I did.

I’m currently reading Shannon Mayer’s 40 Proof series and the main character is hilarious and loveable. I love that the mc is middle aged — like me! Gives me a reason to laugh at myself. Totally relatable.

And if you love a happy ending, you cannot go wrong with Leia Stone. All her series books are happy endings, which is the pay off after she takes you through a roller coaster of emotions. Yes, some chapters will make you cry.

Nancy Brooks is my go to for exotic locations and legends. We all know about vampires, werewolves and witches. But have you heard about Vai-mahse? No? Then you gotta read Nancy Brooks. Her books focus on legends from around the world. Get ready to travel the globe and buckle your seat belt when you read her books.

And last, but not least, Cecily Magnon’s story of the Anakim is the classic tale of good against evil. Angels against demons. But with the modern tribulations of a darkening human society. She will pull on your emotional strings for sure.
