Meet the Author behind 12 Angels Publishing

If you’ve been following my journey for a while, you may have noticed something. Sometimes I write as Cecily Magnon. Other times, you’ll see the name Mignon.

So today, I thought I’d share the story behind that.

The short version?

They’re both me.

When I began writing fiction, I chose the pen name Cecily Magnon. It gave my novels their own identity — a place where readers could step into worlds filled with fantasy, impossible choices, and characters searching for hope in the darkest places.

Then something else began to grow. Not just the books. A vision. That vision became 12 Angels Publishing. It’s more than the name on a book cover. It’s become a home for everything I love to create.

Fantasy novels.

Coloring books.

Writing journals.

And soon, another nonfiction book under my own name. Only the second after many long years.

For a long time, I felt like I had to choose one creative path. Was I Cecily or was I Mignon as writer. I was thinking about marketing and what a possible audience would respond to. My priority shifted and I was no longer having fun. Creating became more of a chore. I hated that feeling. So what did I do? I retreated. I put my dreams on hold.

I didn’t like that either. I don’t think my dreams did either because it kept nudging. It wouldn’t let go. So, finally again this year, I told myself I needed to commit to myself and what I want to do. This is not about chasing trends or the market. This is about my dream.

Yes, this is also still about building a small one-woman business by being a creative, but more than that it was about proving to myself that I could. Eventually, I realized and accepted that I am all of it, even my pen name that I’ve shied away from. (I don’t know why…) It’s seems strange, because I was doing the work, but in my mind there was a disconnect and I think that was partly why I could never make it work.

I had to embrace that whether I create under Cecily Magnon or Mignon or 12 Angels Publishing or PandaTudePress — they’re all expressions of the same creative heart and soul. They’re all me and my hope is always the same.

To create something that people can relate to. To find a feeling of security, maybe even hope in the various works that is produced under 12 Angels Publishing.

That’s really what 12 Angels Publishing has become. A place where stories can inspire wonder. Where creativity is encouraged. Where imagination has room to breathe. Where every project is created with care.

You’ll continue to see both names.

Cecily Magnon is the fantasy author who brings mythical worlds and unforgettable characters to life.

Mignon is the creator behind the scenes, sharing more personal projects, creative resources, and books rooted in faith, reflection, and everyday life.

Different names. The same dream.

When I first started writing, I hoped to publish a book. Now, I find myself dreaming of something even bigger.

Not a publishing empire, but a creative home. A place where readers, artists, dreamers, and storytellers can discover something that sparks their imagination or brings a little light into their day.

If that comes through a fantasy novel, a coloring page, a journal, or a future nonfiction book doesn’t really matter.

What matters is how it makes someone feel.

If you’ve been reading along, supporting my books, following the blog, or simply stopping by from time to time…
