Why Reading Still Matters… even life gets busy
First and most importantly, HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all the wonderful moms out there, and I mean moms of every kind. You all deserve the very best for putting up with all the crap, and making things out of nothing, and being everything to everyone.
Moms rock this world!
Now, back to the post.
When life gets overwhelming, reading is usually the first thing to go. But it might be the one thing we actually need more of.
Between work, family, and everything else, it’s easy to tell ourselves we don’t have time to read. Or we’re too busy. I’ve said it too. But every time I come back to a book, even for ten minutes, I feel a difference. Reading slows things down. It creates space. It reconnects us to ideas, stories, and perspectives we don’t get from doom-scrolling.
I’d rather get lost in a book, than get lost in social media any day.
As I build 12 Angels Publishing, reading has become part of the process, not separate from it. It fuels creativity, sharpens storytelling, and reminds me what resonates with me as a reader. I think it adds to my perspective as a writer.
It doesn’t have to be hours. One chapter is enough. One page is enough. The habit is what matters.
For my book lovin’ moms out there. Today is the perfect day to unplug with a book. Take the time. Enjoy. No guilt. Give yourself the gift of reading.
