What I’m building with 12 Angels Publishing
This isn’t a big launch update. It’s more of a revamping update. I’ve been in limbo with 12 Angels Publishing for years. It’s been there, but I have not given it the commitment it deserved. It has taken me this long to get my act together and build some discipline to sustain a workflow I can manage.
Right now, 12 Angels Publishing is in its building phase. That means creating consistently — ebooks, low content books, and printable coloring pages, and other products that I hope would be of value to my target audience. All the while trying to figure out how to connect with people for real. How to get my pages found. How to get my stories read.
It’s a lot, but I’m chipping away at it.
I’m no longer pushing for fast growth, but steady growth. I don’t want to burn out (again). I’m trying to learn better as I go. I’m pretty sure I’m still making a lot of mistakes, but that’s the beauty of slow growth and low visibility, there’s time to learn and fix things.
I think the hardest part is giving myself grace when I do make a mistake. Instead of getting so frustrated and giving up, I’ve learned to take a step back, catch my breath, and start again.
The other hard thing is building a feel that is consistent between my products and pages. I’m trying to focus on creating things that feel aligned: mystical/spiritual, calming, imaginative, cozy, fantasy products that people can actually use to slow down and enjoy. Problem is this takes A LOT of restraint and self-reflection. I love a lot of different styles that don’t necessarily have the same aesthetic. I’m also guilty of having a squirrel’s attention span and follow the shiny ball rolling past me. Needless to say, this is a work in progress.
I’m also continuing to write and expand my creative work behind the scenes. The books are still at the heart of everything.
If you’re following along, you’re catching my journey at the foundation building stage. It’s a reconstruction. And that’s okay. I have to remember that the finished, polished products and people we often look up to, had a journey too.
Here’s what 12 Angels Publishing looks like right now:
- Cecily Magnon – Mythical and Urban Fantasy Author
- PandaTudePress – Etsy shop with a focus on fantasy inspired printable coloring pages
- 12 Angels Publishing – low content bookish products Creator (notebooks, coloring books, etc)
- Books, Blog, & Bits — personal blog to focus on books, reading, and 12 Angels Publishing news
To make finding all the things easier, the best place to go to is iggylife.com. I’m trying to use what I already have and repurposing it to better fit where I am now.
If you’re trying to build something too. It’s okay to go slow. It’s not a race.
